Why “The Daft Dem”?  Well, I feel quite certain like many left leaning bloggers, I will be called all sorts of names at one point or another, so in my latte sipping, gaja smoking, wheatgrass drinking, elitist ways, I decided to pick one that is more dignified than Liberal Loon, or Unpatriotic Nutjob, and just give them a starting point to go from.

The Daft Dem is intended to be a watchguard.  The election of Barack Obama and the improved Democratic hold on both the House and the Senate will in my estimation only piss off the right wingnuts and start them foaming at the mouth again.  After all it was during the Clinton Administration that these people (and I use that term loosely) got their launching point, and I am sure they will try to use it to once again bring their particular brand of bile out in full force again.

I don’t think the elections were the end, but only the beginning, this chronicle will try to keep tabs on what the right is lying about, what they have actually done to impede progress (so when they try to claim “nothing got done” later, we will have their history of filibusters and other attempts at slowing down progress to fall back on).  That does not give the Democrats a free pass either though.  There have been a lot of promises made to Progressives like me, and I do not expect them to fall back into the ways that helped the rise of people like Newt Gingrich before.  We need to go forward, not go backwards… in any respects.
