Don’t take you eyes off Bush just yet

The Washington Post has the details:

The White House is working to enact a wide array of federal regulations, many of which would weaken government rules aimed at protecting consumers and the environment, before President Bush leaves office in January.

This is not something completely odd, as many Presidents have done last minute items in the past.  But we are talking about George W. Bush here, a President that hasn’t seen something he hasn’t wanted to deregulate yet.  And not surprisingly, these are some of the most controversial items, such as overturning regulations on emissions, lifting a requirement for environmental impact statements for some fishers (in suprise, surprise, Alaska), and more.

As if he hasn’t done enough damage over 8 years, he is going to just give us more that will have to be undone later.

Update:  Interestingly enough Rachel Maddow covered this last night on MSNBC as well http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/26315908/vp/27480676#27480676
